Powered by a patented combination of 3 natural ingredients, APIS® is a one-of-a-kind solution backed by science. Ingredients:
Collagen Derivative: A natural extracellular matrix protein, an essential part of organic tissue. (8)
100% UMF™-Certified New Zealand Mānuka Honey: Known for antibacterial properties and aiding in wound healing. (9)
Hydroxyapatite: A naturally occurring mineral known to add structural reinforcement to biomaterials and promote wound healing via angiogenesis and re-epithelialization. (10)

APIS® was created by SweetBio, Inc. Learn more about SweetBio's mission and values here.
-
APIS® is made with SweetBio®’s technology, MX™, which addresses the wound's microenvironment by balancing key variables known to heavily impact both early stages (i.e., homeostasis and inflammatory phases) and late stages (i.e., proliferation and remodeling phases) of the wound healing process. (5-7*)
-
There is no FDA-cleared claim for APIS® or any other Mānuka honey product on the market as an antibacterial product. However, Mānuka honey is well-researched for its antibacterial properties, and SweetBio®’s MX™ technology has demonstrated a remarkable 99.99% reduction in gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria in vitro, which is published in peer-reviewed journals. (5*)
-
APIS® uses medical‑grade, UMF‑certified Mānuka honey that is filtered and sterilized to remove environmental particles such as pollen. It does not contain components typically associated with bee‑ or pollen‑related allergic reactions. Individuals with severe allergies should still consult a clinician for personalized guidance.

TIPS FOR THE BEST APIS® EXPERIENCE
-
SweetBio® will provide an easy-to-follow script for you to support your patient’s expectations.
Email info@sweetbio.com for patient educational materials.
-
Since APIS® is made with natural ingredients, you might notice variations in shape, size, or color from one side to the other. That’s completely normal—and either side can be placed on the wound.
-
Use sterile saline to moisten APIS® for 1-2 minutes. This helps it soften, conform to the wound, and support a moist healing environment. As APIS® hydrates, it may curl or slightly bunch - after 1-2 minutes, APIS® will relax into a flat, soft sheet.
APIS® should be wet, not soaking or dripping, to avoid saturating the secondary dressing. Note that APIS® may expand in length and width as it hydrates with saline.
-
You might notice a light scent when opening the pouch. It’s from the protein base of collagen and will fade within seconds.
-
APIS® must contact as much of the wound as possible and does not need to overlap the edges of the wound. Gently press to ensure it contacts the wound.
-
On average, APIS® dissolves in 7-14 days dependent on the wound environment. Apply a new APIS® product per your recommendation.
-
If APIS® hasn’t fully dissolved at the patient’s visit, do not remove it— simply add a saline if APIS® is dry and dress the wound with your preferred cover dressing.
-
Contraindications
Patients with sensitivity to collagen and its derivatives
Patients with sensitivity to porcine-derived products
Patients with sensitivity to honey
Third degree burns
Infections or contamination in the wound site
Control of bleeding
Children and infant patients under 10kg / 22lbs
Usage Information
Users should follow the most recent procedures and best practices for wound management to complete wound preparation, application of APIS® and application of secondary dressings.
Remove APIS® and discontinue use if signs of sensitivity appear.
Do not use APIS® after the expiration date stated on the product label.
Contact a health care professional if:
Signs of infection occur (e.g. increased pain)
There is a change in wound color and/or odor
The wound does not begin to show signs of healing, or
Any other unexpected symptom
