There is no FDA-cleared claim for APIS® or any other Mānuka honey product on the market as an antibacterial product. APIS® uses medical‑grade, UMF‑certified Mānuka honey that is filtered and sterilized to remove environmental particles such as pollen. SweetBio offers two wound care products — APIS® and VERIS™ — designed to treat the same wounds in different care settings.

What’s the difference?

Both products treat chronic wounds (e.g., DFUs) and surgical wounds (e.g., Mohs). The difference is setting, frequency, and billing.

VERIS™ – For at-home use by the patient. Dissolves daily to support ongoing wound care. Ideal for patients who can self-manage.
Billing: DME supply under HCPCS A6021.

APIS® – For in-clinic application by the physician. Dissolves weekly, providing sustained coverage between visits. Ideal for patients needing closer oversight.
Billing: Skin substitute (CTP) under HCPCS A2010 (APIS®).
